A document containing weekly spellings for each term will be given at the start of each new term. This document can be accessed below. Spellings should be learnt in preparation for weekly tests which will take place on Wednesdays or Thursdays. Children will be told in class whether they should be using 'Spelling List 1' or 'Spelling List 2'.
Some children will have been given separate spellings by their class teacher. If you are unsure about which spellings you should be learning please speak to your class teacher.
CHANGE TO SPELLING ASSESSMENT FOR SPELLING BOOK TWO
For those doing spelling group two, there has been a change in arrangements. Children will be assessed on the first five spellings in their weekly list either on Wednesdays or Thursdays at the same time as those in spelling group one are assessed on all the spellings on their weekly list. This maximizes time for any extra support available on Monday to focus on one-to-one reading.
If children in spelling group one feel they can learn more than the first five spellings on their list in a week than they can. Efforts will be made to celebrate this in class, but these further spellings will not be in the class spelling assessments.
