Mental Health and Wellbeing
At Sefton Park, our vision is to develop a school community where children can enjoy a welcoming, secure, supportive and caring environment. At our school we know that everyone experiences life challenges that can make us vulnerable and at times, anyone may need additional emotional support. We take the view that positive mental health is everybody’s business and that we all have a role to play.
Developing a whole-school approach to mental health and wellbeing forms part of our current school development plan.
Roles and Responsibilities of our Staff Team
There are a number of people who work in and with our school who support our children’s mental health and wellbeing:
Rebecca Earnshaw is our Senior Mental Health Lead
The Department for Education has recommended that all schools and colleges in England appoint a senior mental health lead (SMHL) by 2025. The SMHL is a member of the Senior Leadership Team who is responsible for the strategic direction and implementation of a whole-school approach to supporting mental health and wellbeing.
Jane Harris is our Pupil Mental Health Champion. Jane works with children individually or in small groups and delivers bespoke interventions based upon presenting needs.
