Computing Intent Statement
In our computing curriculum children use a broad range of digital resources, learning to thrive in the digital environment. They can confidently use the digital world to enhance their school experience, enabling their learning at Sefton Park to be ever more enjoyable, purposeful, challenging and rounded. Children have a broad, clearly defined, steadily progressing base of digital skills. From this their own creativity and curiosity can flourish.
Curiosity: Children make use of a broad range of skills in multimedia and coding to pose questions and find solutions. Within the parameters of safe respectful conduct and with an increasing grasp of digital literacy, children are able to express themselves and their ideas. They can apply their computational thinking skills and creativity to increasingly complex problems, in particular through programming and coding.
Creativity: Children can use a wide range of digital resources to develop their learning across the curriculum, taking significant ownership of how various digital resources enhance their experiences. They will see the digital world as having a rich choice of go-to resources to creatively develop their learning in a number of subjects across the curriculum. They develop an impressive range of coding skills, with a clearly defined progression of skills, which also allows individuals, groups and classes to take their coding down flexible, exciting, original routes that best suit them.
