We've been at the heart of Ashley Down, Bristol, for over 100 years. In that time, we've grown to become a school that reflects our community and champions teaching practices that support how children naturally learn.
From the moment your child joins us in Nursery or Reception through to when they leave us at the end of Year 6, we're committed to nurturing a love of learning. Every child arrives with their own unique spark of curiosity, and it's our privilege to support this wonder while building their confidence and encouraging their creativity to flourish.
At our school, your child's learning reflects where they are in their educational journey. In our Early Years, children discover and explore through play. These play-based experiences are more than just fun activities – they foster deep understanding and are at the heart of our child-centred approach.
As children move into Key Stage 1, they follow the National Curriculum with a continued emphasis on child-led learning. In Key Stage 2, children begin dedicated lessons in music, computing, and Spanish, further enriching their education and expanding their horizons.
Throughout this journey, our extensive learning support staff and Specialist Resource Base ensure that every child receives the personalised support they need to thrive.
We believe in supporting every child's social and emotional development as well as their academic progress. We want each of our children to feel that this is their school – that they belong. Our Specialist Resource Base is part of our commitment to inclusion and supportive care for every child. It's a place where children from our school and from across our community can come to learn and grow alongside their peers.
