Chess Tournament
Tue 04 Mar 2025On Monday, 4 Year 6 boys, Tom, Percy, Ben and Rowan took part in the inaugural National Chess tournament with the first round held at Bristol Grammar School. This was a team event where each player had 10 minutes, games were played using a chess clock, adjudicators refereed the games and all four results contributed to an overall team score. Sefton Park played Redhill Knights A, Sidcott B, St Hugh's Oxford and Westbuy Park B. The Team won 1, drew 2 and lost 1 and came a creditable 17th out of 32 teams. They played well, supported each other and the opponents and had a great afternoon of chess.

Anyone for Quidditch?
Tue 28 Jan 2025Yesterday 20 lucky children across years 3 to 6 had the chance to partake in a session of Quidditch - the game that Harry Potter excels at. Arthur and Evie in year 5 really enjoyed it. Arthur said that he thought it was a great way for children to have exercise. It was quite complicated to understand the rules - even though I have read the Harry Potter series - yet after half an hour of playing it became easier.’ ‘It was fun and special - it certainly wasn’t something you normally do’ said Evie. ‘It involved a lot of teamwork and I would definitely play it again’. We are often looking for innovative ways to engage children in teamwork and physical exercise and maybe Quidditch might be the future of primary school sports!

Magdalen Farm Residential for Year 5
Mon 30 Sep 2024Year 5 had the most wonderful time at Magdalen Farm in North Dorset last week. The 24 hour residential included feeding animals, den building, sampling and picking fruit and vegetables and energetic singing around the campfire. The children were fantastic, rising to the challenges of the residential and sharing in their excitement with one another. It was a much needed and wholesome trip for all and our thanks in particular go to the adults who took time away form their own families to be with the children. If you wish to see the photos of the day, check out the Year 5 page under Year groups.
