Everything you need to know about school meals, packed lunches, free meal eligibility, and supporting children with special dietary requirements.

    Lunchtime Options

Children can choose between a school meal and a packed lunch each day.

Aspens is our school meals provider. To find out more about who they are and what they offer, visit the Aspens website.

    How It Works

Each morning, children tell their teacher their lunch choice, which is then recorded in the register. This means you have complete flexibility – your child can have a school meal one day and a packed lunch the next. Options include:

    • Standard meat meals
    • Vegetarian meals
    • Halal meals
    • Packed lunch from home

    School Meal Payments

    Who Pays?

Parents of children in Years 3 to 6 pay £2.90 per day. Children in Reception, Year 1, and Year 2 receive free school meals under the Universal Infant Free School Meals scheme.

    How to Pay

You can pay online using the Arbor app or portal, or drop exact cash in an envelope at the school office. (Please note that we cannot give change.)

You can pay daily, weekly, monthly, or for the whole term. For cash payments, use exact money in a labelled envelope with your child's name and class.

For more information about getting started with online payments, see our Setting Up & Using Arbor page.

    Free School Meals

Your child may qualify for free school meals if you receive certain benefits. This saves £2.90 per day and brings extra government funding to support your child's education.

Even if your child already receives free meals through the Universal Infant Free School Meals scheme, you may still be eligible for additional funding for your child's education if you meet the benefit requirements.

Check eligibility and apply: Visit our Free School Meals & Pupil Premium page.

    For Families Choosing Packed Lunches

Many families choose to provide a packed lunch from home. A healthy, balanced lunch helps children stay energised for afternoon learning.

Nut-free requirement: We are a nut-free school. Please ensure your child's packed lunch contains no nuts of any kind (including almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts, Brazil nuts, cashews, pistachios, and peanuts) or products made with nuts or peanuts, such as some pestos.

    Special Dietary Needs

If your child has allergies, intolerances, or medical dietary requirements, we can create a special menu for them. As we are a nut-free school, all school meals are already prepared in a nut and peanut-free environment.

Don't worry – we'll provide an allergen-friendly menu for your child immediately while we process your request. To create a fully customised menu, you'll need to:

    • Complete the Medical Diet Request Form (PDF) as soon as possible
    • Provide medical evidence (such as a GP letter or consultant report)
    • Return both forms to the school office in an envelope marked "Special Diets"

Once we receive your completed paperwork, it takes about three weeks to create a custom menu for your child.
