  • Reporting Absence

If your child is unwell, please call us on 0117 377 3290 before 9:30am.

    When you call, we'll need:

    • Your child's name
    • Their class
    • Details of their illness

Please keep us updated on your child's recovery so that we can support their return to school.

Is My Child Too Ill for School?

Children with mild cold symptoms can usually attend school.

Your child CAN come to school with:

    • Cold symptoms (sniffles, blocked or runny nose, sore throat)
    • A mild cough
    • Minor illness, if they feel well enough to participate in lessons

Your child should stay home if they have:

    • A temperature of 38°C or higher
    • Sickness or diarrhoea (wait 48 hours after symptoms stop before returning)
    • Any illness that means they feel too unwell for normal activities

Medical Appointments & Other Planned Absences

Medical Appointments: For medical, dental, or hospital appointments during school hours, please complete our online Absence Request Form at least 10 days in advance, if possible.

Exceptional Circumstances: Use the same form and explain why the event cannot be scheduled during school holidays. Please note that government policy requires us to record certain absences as unauthorised. Unauthorised absences can result in penalty notices, though we're always happy to discuss individual situations with you.
