    Welcome to Cherry and Cedar Classes

    We're delighted to welcome your children to Reception! This year, they'll discover new skills, build friendships, and grow in confidence as they become part of our learning community. We'll support them every step of the way through all the adventures and milestones ahead.

    This Year's Learning Journey

    Your child will be developing essential skills through:

    • Phonics and early reading – daily phonics sessions help your child decode words and develop a love of reading
    • Writing adventures – from mark-making to forming letters and writing simple sentences
    • Mathematical thinking – exploring numbers, shapes, patterns, and problem-solving through hands-on activities
    • Understanding the world – discovering science, history, geography, and different cultures
    • Creative expression – art, music, drama, and imaginative play that develops creativity and confidence
    • Physical development – outdoor activities designed to develop and strengthen both gross and fine motor skills
