  • Supporting SEND

    Our Vision

At Sefton Park, we believe in participation for all learners. Our aim is to create an atmosphere of encouragement, acceptance, and sensitivity to individual needs, where every child can thrive within an inclusive culture that celebrates all members of our community.

How We Support Children with SEND

Whole-school responsibility: SEND support is everyone's responsibility and concern at Sefton Park – not just the responsibility of specialist staff, but embedded in everything we do.

Four areas of need: We recognise that children have SEND if they have a learning difficulty or disability which requires special educational provision that is "additional and different". We support children across four main areas:

    • Communication and interaction
    • Cognition and learning
    • Social, emotional and mental health
    • Sensory and/or physical needs

    Specialist Provision

We're incredibly privileged to have a purpose-built Specialist Resource Base (SRB) that supports up to 12 children with autism and speech and language needs. Located in Ashley House, the SRB is a specially equipped educational space that is an integral part of our school. It allows us to offer specialist provision while ensuring children who study there remain connected to all that's going on at Sefton Park.

    Our SEND Team

We have a dedicated and experienced SEND team. Rebecca Earnshaw leads our provision as SENDCO Inclusion Leader and Strategic Director of Our Resource Base. Rebecca is a highly experienced class teacher and SENDCO. She is supported by Lisa Chester, Assistant SENDCO, and Beth Aiken, who is the Lead Teacher of our Specialist Resource Base. Together, they ensure comprehensive support across all areas of our school community.
