On Tuesday, twelve lucky Year 5's had the chance to visit and experience a cookery class run by the Jamie Oliver Food Foundation. Working in a mobile Hotpoint Teaching Kitchen parked outside Ashton Gate stadium, the children cooked up a version of meatballs and pasta (chick pea balls for the Vegetarians) before the tasting the results of their efforts.
Jamie Oliver's Food Foundation aims to keep cooking skills alive. Their mobile kitchen is being used to work with a number of communities around the UK, to encourage people to spend more time in the kitchen together, building cooking confidence and encouraging healthier habits to be passed on. You can find out more about it here.
Great fun was had by all who attended. Parents of the children who went should be demanding that the children cook the dish for them at some stage soon!
