Sefton Park’s Basketball team competed in the Central Bristol School Games Competition on Thursday 7 December.
A group of five girls and five boys representing Year 6 competed in the tournament, hosted by City Academy, and all of the children played their part. The team made it to the semi-finals, after winning one group game convincingly and then winning an additional qualifying game.
The team were disappointed to exit at the semi-finals stage, finishing 3rd out of nine teams that entered. “It was great to see the team stepping out onto the fantastic facility at City Academy, where they played so well,” observed Mr O’Donoghue, Sefton Park coach. “It was a fantastic effort for a team that had never played together before this event. They should be really proud of their performance.”
Speaking after the event, Mr ‘O’ said, “It was great to hear the children talking about how they would like to play more after their experience. This was evident the following day when the hoop in the playground was really busy!”
We are looking forward to entering more extra-curricular sports events in Term 3. Watch this space for updates!
