Intent

Educating lifelong learners: curious, confident, creative learners.

 

Children are active learners, taking charge  of their learning and discovering their talents and interests. Children learn to be kind and to be active citizens, caring about others and their world. 

 

Our curriculum aims to equip our learners with the knowledge, skills and habits of mind which will enable them to thrive in our rapidly changing world, ready and able to take advantage of opportunities and challenges. We provide meaningful, wide-ranging, challenging and purposeful learning opportunities based on an understanding of how children learn best.

 

 

Curiousity’ Our enquiry rich curriculum is designed to stimulate and nurture curiosity, providing thought-provoking learning experiences. We build engagement through providing children with ownership in shaping the curriculum. We effectively utilise the rich cultural diversity of our school community and our context within Bristol.  

 

‘Creativity’ We place great importance on creativity and creative thinking. This incorporates problem solving, philosophical thinking, and the ability to apply creativity in exploring and providing solutions to issues, both in school and in their contributions to wider world. We exploit a wide range of opportunities to become involved in local events. We place great importance on wide-ranging in and out of school experiences, trips and use of experts.   

 

‘Confidence’ We support children in developing a healthy relationship with mistakes and the resilience to cope with the challenges with which life may present them.  We place great importance on supporting good mental health and wellbeing for all members of the Sefton Park community.
