Welcome to Year 3!
This year the year 3 team consists of Heather Sampson in Baobab class and Nicole Van Pletzen in Olive class.
End of Term 5 News
Over the past few weeks, we have really enjoyed exploring the amazing and wonderful world of minibeasts! Thank you for bringing in all of your books, models and sharing your experiences with the classes.
Also, we have been jamming out on the steel drums this term. We are looking forward to performing for you live (hopefully outdoors in the lovely sunshine!), showing off our new skills. Times and dates to be confirmed.
Our Design and Technology project, making juggling balls, is well underway! The fabric has been tie-dyed and we will be commencing sewing after the half term break. If you are able to provide support with sewing, or towards the end of the term, interested in teaching the children how to juggle, please get in touch through the usual channels.
Again, thank you for all of your continued support and enjoy the holiday!
Year 3 Newsletter: Term 5
Welcome back, we hope you had a lovely rest over the holidays. Thank you again for all your support last term.
Our topic question for this term is 'What makes an adventurer?'. We will be focusing on lots of outdoor science - think plants, minibeasts and nature.
If your child has a experience or artifact related to our topic that they would like share with the class, please encourage them to do so!
PE is scheduled for Wednesdays and Thursdays this term. P.E. will be outside this summer term, so please make sure your child brings in clearly labelled appropriate clothing.
Over the next two terms we will be undertaking sessions of Philosophy for children. This develops our Speaking and Listening skills, helps our reasoning and comprehension skills and, more importantly, helps us to become more respectful of other people's viewpoints.
How you can help at home
Thank you for your continued support prioritising the usual daily reading, times tables practise and spelling practise. We also recommend 40 minutes of home learning per week, which is set on Thursdays and returned the following Tuesday. Home learning and spellings for each class is available on the school website.
If anyone has some spare time to hear children read in class, then your class teacher would love to hear from you! Thank you to those of you who have already given up your time for this, it is greatly appreciated.
If you would like to meet with us for an informal chat, we are available most days after school. Please leave a message at the school office so we can arrange a good time to meet. Please feel free to leave any morning messages with a member of staff who is out in the playground, who will be happy to pass them on to the relevant teachers. Alternatively, you can leave a message in the school office. If there are any changes to home time arrangements, then please let us know earlier in the day. Thank you for your cooperation.
